5 Dog Breeds with Curly Hair

Curls look amazing on dogs and if you plan on getting a dog with curly hair you must remember that grooming is extremely important to keep their coat healthy. Here are 5 dogs that rock curly hair!

  1. Bedlington Terrier

Bedlingtons are dogs with a lamb-like appearance who originated from Bedlington in Northumberland. They are noted for being protective of their loved ones and for wanting to be the center of attention. They are a perfect match for a family that is looking for a loyal, lively, and non-shedding dog.

Bedlingtons can be low or high maintenance in terms of grooming.

To achieve the ‘classic' Bedlington style, you will need to have them groomed professionally every six weeks. They'll still need to be brushed on a regular basis to keep their fur from matting.

  1. Poodle

The poodle is an elegant-looking dog that is considered to be one of the most intelligent breeds. They come in four sizes: the Standard Poodle, Medium Poodle, Miniature Poodle, and Toy Poodle, however, the Medium Poodle isn’t universally recognized.

They are calm, friendly, and patient which makes them excellent family dogs, especially for those with children. Their high-maintenance coat needs constant brushing, clipping, and trimming to keep it looking good and healthy.

  1. Bichon Frise

This smart, friendly, adorable snow-white dog originated from the Mediterranean countries! They are easy to train, they love to learn new tricks and put on a show. Bichons require frequent brushing, bathing, and trips to a professional groomer every 4 weeks. Regular brushing prevents tangles and mats by removing trapped hair, dirt, and debris.

  1. American Water Spaniel

The breed's ancestors are unknown, though it is thought to have descended from various spaniels as well as the Irish water spaniel or curly-coated retriever. If you love the outdoors and water then this breed is perfect for you, they have high energy and LOVE to swim.

Their coat needs to be brushed weekly to maintain its texture, beauty, and brushing on a regular basis will help reduce seasonal shedding.

  1. Airedale Terrier

Airedale Terries aka “Kings of Terries” because they are the largest of all terrier breeds. These terries can be bold, determined, and stubborn but they are also patient with children. They have high energy levels so be ready to have lots of playtime in the backyard! Their dense, wiry coat needs to be brushed 2-3 times a week to help remove dead hair and keep them looking fresh.
